Phew we’ve been busy. Here’s a recap of recent events. Aunt Laura came to visit over Memorial Day weekend!
Yeehaw it was so fun to see her and the girls had lots of time to monkey around with her.
Speaking of monkeys, Rose’s favorite new activity at the playground is the monkey bars. So we seek out parks that have them. This one came with a nice city view.
As for Mae, she likes to play in the sand and ball pits.
Here’s a good shot of the two cuddling.
But most importantly, last week Rose had her graduate play at preschool. Her character this year, which she created, was Princess Rosabel – a princess who draws pictures for people. Here are a few behind-the-scenes photos, including one with her good friends Porter and Sophie.
Rose and Porter are still good buddies and it breaks my heart a little that they won’t go to the same school next year. But they will still play soccer together on the weekends, so hopefully they won’t lose touch. I love these two jokers so much it hurts.
Here’s Rose receiving her diploma from her teachers afterward, and a photo of her with her former teacher Hakim (he left a few months ago to teach middle school but came back for the play). Love love love these people.
And a family pic.
Then on Friday night Rose spent the night at school for the Graduate Sleepover – an event she has truly been talking about for YEARS. It’s the peak of her preschool career. They got to play flashlight tag and eat ice cream for breakfast. It’s all downhill from here. I don’t really have any pictures, because you know, I wasn’t invited – but here’s a fuzzy one from a teacher.
Apparently she was up until 11:00 pm. Let’s just say that Saturday had its share of meltdowns, starting at about 8:00 a.m. when we picked her up. But we survived.
Rose’s last day of preschool is next Thursday. I’m sort of in denial about leaving this place and the amazing people who’ve helped care for and raise her for the past 5 years. She is doing a few camps this summer with friends and we’ll be busy with miscellaneous travel, visitors, etc, and then before we know it – KINDERGARTEN. Movin on up!
